The factions will battle for control of worlds, which provide bonuses to the controlling faction. There are three types of planets in the game:. At times, planets will change status between core, faction, and border. This will facilitate the dramatic changes in territorial control that take place during the canon MechWarrior timeline. At launch it will take only a single match to determine control of a planet.
This will very likely change in the future, requiring sequenced matches to control a planet. Another interesting tidbit to note is that the community warfare aspect of the game will not be implemented until a short time within 90 days after launch. It sounds like this will create an early free-for-all period during which control of planets is essentially meaningless other than bragging rights , but that is still unclear at this time.
Regardless, that situation will only be temporary. Match size will be max of 12 vs. Matches will consist of either faction or merc corp players with lone wolf players thrown in to fill any empty slots.

Is there anything more fun than massive suits of mechanical armor smashing into one another and firing lasers all over the place? MechWarrior Online , the free-to-play MMO-like set in the MechWarrior universe and developed by Piranha Games , would argue that the answer to that question is pretty obvious. You’ve been given dozens of alternative suggestions for how to improve – the most popular of which have ALL been based around systems which DID exist prior to progression 2. Using the core functionality that existed before progression 2. Not many players here are anti-monetisation. Many of us are even willing to admit that purely-cosmetic monetisation is unlikely to be a viable model although several successful long-lasting games HAVE managed to work with that model, too.
Most of the suggestions players are making for improved progression include alternative monetisation options, and those options are ones proven by the industry to work. The fact remains – and remains unaddressed by the devs – that maintenance is a flawed model at its core. It’s been proven by repeated market research to be a major factor in pushing players away from games.
We need some acknowledgement of why this model is being pushed in spite of the evidence against it. Returning player here, and the new system is god awful, so they have lost me as a player untill it changes. Whilst it has huge success in other games these games have had many more tiers to progress and the differences between each tier are minor and gradually build up to the top level often 10 or more tiers. In Dreadnought we have 5 tiers, Thats 5 tiers to squash in new players, experienced players, Veterans and top tier.
I have no doubt that the matchmaker works, However it cannot count for the massive increase in effectiveness between each tiers which makes games so one sided and results in the people in tiers 2 and 3 feeling like they cannot contribute. This is the core problem, The fact that players do not feel like they can contribute and do not have fun when facing tiers 1 or 2 levels above them.
I think, in order for the developers to truly make decent money from this game they should consider focusing on having diverse ways to monetize, such as giving the community ways for forge communities, friendships and groups and then tie those to the game. One of the most powerful motivators to get people to part with there money is letting them feel like they are helping their community.
This is one of my favourite ways to spend RP in LoL, as I get to make my entire team have a good time and look forward to getting the big fat drop of currency at the end of the match win or lose. This is a relatively inexpensive feature [Although logistically to apply it to dreadnought with the current way things are would probably be a bit of rekijiggering] that has quite a high earning potential.

They have created something called Pilot Skill Rating, based on performance in matches since January of this year. There will be 5 “tiers” of piloting skill.
